The Witcher 3: 10 Best Side Quests You Must Complete
8. Of Swords & Dumplings
There are several quests throughout the main game that give Geralt access to better weapons and gear, but Of Swords & Dumplings is definitely one of the most entertaining. Finding an Elven blacksmith who's been forced to sell dumplings rather than ply his trade, Geralt opts to help out and pledges to get the Elf back to his smithing.
This mission demonstrates some of the surprisingly well-embedded political and racial agendas that are at work all across the land. The elf is a victim of a sordid and unkind organisation, but is without the help of friends to change his fate. Spotting an opportunity to help someone and help himself, Geralt of course intervenes.
With so much of the main game taking place out in the wilds, it's nice to spend some meaningful time in the city streets. This whole quest plays out in Novigrad and offers a great change of pace and scenery to much of the rest of the game.
After completion, the elf can then craft Master swords for Geralt on demand. A helpful friend indeed.
