The Witcher 3: 12 Crucial Tips & Tricks The Game Doesn't Tell You
7. Quen Can Actually Block All Damage For One Attack
A key to getting used to how to dodge, move and parry in W3 is to get very handy with the Quen spell (the one that creates a forcefield of sorts around Geralt, dissipating when he gets hit). Eventually you'll get used to not relying on it as much, but if you follow its upgrade path it can be a very useful ability - especially when people who attack you start taking damage themselves. As far as the game will tell you, Quen is only supposed to soak up a portion of any attacker's full amount, but this simply isn't true. Either through a bug or just a secret feature, you can survive one hit from almost any enemy in the game if you've previously flicked this Sign on before impact. Have one Quen circling Geralt at all times, and you'll find yourself emerging unscathed from many more encounters than you first thought.
