The Witcher 3: 20 Characters Ranked From Worst To Best
4. Yennefer Of Vengerberg
Yennefer becomes a major character in the video game adventures with The Witcher 3, and her part in the events of this game seem to provide the lead in to many of Dandelion's references to her from the very first game on PC.
Yen accompanies Geralt for most of his quest to find Ciri, and proves herself to be a supremely useful ally in combat. Her spells are effective for chipping away at the health of hordes of enemies, leaving Geralt less work to do in scenarios where the two become outnumbered.
Outside of this, however, Yennefer proves herself even more important to Geralt. She's an active assistant in tracking Ciri, and the relationship she shares with the Witcher make for some of the game's most human moments. The sequence that features the djinn and Yen's desire to find out whether the bind she has to Geralt is truly love is one of the most emotionally charged in the game, giving players the choice of how they want Geralt to feel about the sorceress.
The Witcher 3 wants players to make a very definite decision between Triss and Yen as a partner and, by my sensibilities, anyone who'd opt for Triss instead must be some sort of fool.
