Titanfall: 12 Tips To Help You Survive Getting Owned Online

It is fair to say that Titanfall has been the first huge success for the Xbox One since its release last week. Despite it not being an actual exclusive title, the fact that it is making some of the Xbox 360 COD crowd who shifted early to the PS4 a little envious is testament in its early pulling power. Perhaps the best way to consider the game is as a much need kick up the backside for the struggling Xbox One. Now that some of that dust has settled and people are actually enjoying the game - rather than arguing back and forth whether it will/will not live up to the hype - it has become apparent that there is a lot to learn in order to reach a decent level of performance. Due to Titanfall being a totally new IP, it has been difficult for some seasoned Battlefield or Call Of Duty veterans to get their heads around some of the new mechanics. Despite the naysayers claiming flippantly that a lot of it is based heavily on other games, it is only when you get a few hours hands on with the game do you realise you need to get to grips with an entirely new beast. To celebrate the game's success, and to ensure that you get the most out of its gameplay experience, hereafter follows a compendium of tips on how to avoid having your metal-plated butt handed to you online in Respawn Entertainment's glorious mech wonderland...

12. Use Your Burn Cards

This seems like an obvious thing to say for anyone who has experienced TF, but for the hoarders among you it can't be stressed enough to use those burn cards. With a limited amount of slots for your hard earned cards (29), it serves no purpose to hold on to them with an attitude of being too scared to actually use them. Not quite kicking butt the way you would wish with your EVA-8 Shotgun? Then why not fill the 3 slots with the amped auto version, a card that you frequently unlock through excessive EVA-8 use anyway. Need the benefit of seeing where all the AI Bots are so you can unlock your weapon mods? Then throw a few 'Echo Vision' cards on. These cards come and go so easily, do not be afraid to spam the hell out of them for a short burst benefit on the field. In the same respect, be aware that none of the Burn Cards really give you an unbalanced or superior edge, so use the wisely and try to focus your Burn Cards on the weakest part of your game without overly relying on them.
