Titanfall 2: 10 Key Things It Needs To Get Right
6. Make The Matches Bigger In Every Way
For a game that featured big mechs running around laying waste to the battlefield and pilots running and boosting off walls, it sure felt small. The games were limited to 6v6, which is a very, very small match.
There was the addition of bots in the matches that bumped up the count to 48 combatants, but still 36 of those were AI. Not only did the player count seem small, the maps seemed like they couldn't contain all the action at some times. 48 combatants on the map the size of a Call of Duty map felt too cramped at times - you wouldn't be able to move very far without running into a pack of grunts every few minutes.
Upping the map size as well as upping the player count would make the game feel bigger, which was something a lot of people wanted to see when Titanfall first came out.
However, there's no reason to overdo it - just upping the game from a 6v6 to a 10v10 would help. At the very least make it 8v8, which isn't much of an improvement, but it's something. To make up for the larger teams, of course the maps would need to be bigger. With the bigger maps there could be more zip-lines and more connecting paths to enable wall-running to help pilots get around quicker. Being able to make the maps bigger but keep that semi-fast paced game style would be a challenge, but it's a challenge Respawn should have no problem taking on.
