Tony Hawk's Pro Skater: Every Game Ranked Worst To Best
15. Shred
Sticking with the theme of perplexing peripherals, we have Tony Hawk’s Shred.
A release for the Xbox 360 and PS3 that came packaged with the aforementioned peripheral, an electronic skateboard, marketed allegedly to increase player immersion and hoping to create an enthralling experience.
It sounded great on paper but became extremely difficult to utilise when rooted to the spot more prominently than lady liberty herself, making the experience fall flat on its face before it even had a chance to get off the ground.
As you can imagine, this ill-perceived catastrophe of a game didn't go down well, unless you're talking about its ranking in the video game charts.
Tony Hawk’s Shred wasn’t only a critical and commercial failure but it is in fact the one game that spiralled the franchise into non-existence for a brief period.
The motionless motion-based controller was the primary reason for this, as the game is not only unplayable without it - as it is intrinsically linked to it - it’s just as unplayable when with it.
Obvious critique aside, the games graphics look... un-complementary, and the fact Tony Hawk allowed his name on this atrocity proves the series was just barely cared about in 2008.
