Now on to the top 3 games in the Resident Evil series:
3. Resident Evil 1 / REmake
The original game that brought many not only into the Resident Evil universe, but also the survival horror universe. A simple plot where Special Tactics And Rescue Service (S.T.A.R.S.) Alpha Team members go out to investigate the disappearance of Bravo Team who were themselves investigating a series of murders on the Arklay Mountains near an abandoned mansion starts the game off. Who knew that abandoned mansion would be housing such gruesome monsters. As the first game in the series, the game has loads of memorable moments and boss fights. Who can forget the first sight of a zombie, slowly turning his head as you stumble upon him. Or the various fights against mutant wildlife: snakes, spiders and plants. All memorable moments many gamers share. And that's not even counting the various plot-twists that crop up throughout the game. You were given the choice of playing as either Jill Valentine or Chris Redfield, our first look at these two iconic characters. Both characters are essentially similar in progress through the game, but there are some slight differences. It's a bit sexist, as Jill's progress is generally easier than Chris, but both of their progresses are fun to play through. A brief mention should be paid to the Resident Evil remake (known as REmake to fans) for the GameCube which added greater graphic details to the game and altered a few gameplay and scenario elements; usually for the good. It certainly brought RE1 up to another level. REmake turned out to be a great way to get into the RE universe if you hadn't already. Overall, RE1 was the start of the series that brought many fans into the survival horror genre. There will always be a place for it in fans hearts, regardless of perceived clunky controls, awkward cameras and cheesy dialogues.
