Ubisoft Announces Marvel Avengers: Battle for Earth

Ubisoft developing Marvel Avengers: Battle for Earth for Wii U and Kinect.

Ubisoft made it official today, they are developing Marvel Avengers: Battle for Earth for the Xbox 360 Kinect and Wii U. There is no mention if the game will make its way to the PS3. Tony Key, Ubisoft€™s vice president of sales and marketing had this to say:
€œThe idea that we€™re making a motion-control version of €˜The Avengers€™ is a unique proposition if you compare that to superhero games of the past, This is the perfect type of game for that because these characters are very action oriented. They€™re always fighting and throwing things.€
The game is not based on the movie supposedly but instead based on the €œSecret Invasion€ comic series and will have over twenty different characters in the game. There is no release date as of yet but Key did say that the game will likely launch after the release of the Wii U. Outside of fighting games like €œUltimate Marvel vs. Capcom 3€, games based on Marvel characters have generally bombed. The Iron Man games and Thor game were basically unmitigated disasters and at this point putting this game on the Kinect and Wii U sounds to me like this will be a very "kid friendly" game. Not that that is bad thing, but I won't be expecting Marvel Avengers: Battle for Earth to have the same quality as Batman: Arkham City or probably even some of the Spider-man games released by Activision.
