Uncharted 4: 17 Easter Eggs, Secrets & References You Must Find
2. Render Options And Game Mode Tweaks - Max Payne, Cel Shading And More
Naughty Dog always do a wonderful job of giving you incentive to keep playing, keep finding treasure and to keep unlocking new things to tinker with.
Uncharted 4 is no different, and although the majority of the customisation options are reserved for the multiplayer, hop into the Bonus menu and you'll find some incredible options that morph Uncharted 4 into Max Payne, or into a third-person version of cel-shaded shooter, XIII.
'Bullet speed mode' slows things to a crawl whenever you aim your gun, perfect for firefights where you're trying to tag headshots from across the room. 'Slow motion' keeps the game running at a slower pace indefinitely, so you can marvel at all the particle effects and sublime animations popping off in unison, whereas 8-bit pixellises the screen and reduces the fidelity of the audio so you can get a feel for what this might have looked like, had it released a few decades ago.
There are many more, but the standout for me was 'Cel-Shading', the filter that ups the contrast and puts black borders around everything, essentially turning any screenshot into a cool pop-art wallpaper. You can get some great effects by throwing different combinations of these on at once - and personally I'll vouch for slow-motion, cel-shaded Uncharted, it's pure joy.
