The Walking Dead Game: 10 Horrific Things The Developers Made Us Do (So Far)

2. The Dog

To quote Luke from season two 2 €œYou don€™t kill dogs!€ That didn€™t stop Telltale from the most evil manipulation of emotions in the history of video games. Clementine was in a pretty bad situation at the beginning of season two as she is alone and isolated. But then she finds a friendly dog who we hope she€™s going to be best friends with for the rest of the season, living happily ever after. We should have known all along it was too good to be true. Of course things take a turn for the worse and even after a good length of time bonding, it attacks us it to eat the food we found, viciously biting into Clementine€™s arm. Whilst trying to desperately defend herself, Clem kicks the dog away and it is impaled on a piece of debris. Now this is where Telltale makes us do the unthinkable: either we leave the dog to suffer or we put it out of its misery and slit its throat. We€™re still not sure why, but killing this dog beat a lot of other horrific things Telltale made us do throughout The Walking Dead . The effectiveness of the scene is likely due to how unexpected the situation escalates from having a new friend in the form of a faithful dog companion, to absolutely outright frightened reaction and terror as it attacks our beloved Clementine.
