Warhammer 40K: Every Faction Ranked From Least To Most Evil

3. The Powers Of Chaos

Take one look at the artwork and you would reasonably assume that the distinctly devilish Chaos Daemons are the top-tier evil of the Warhammer 40K universe. That would have been the case were it not for one thing – a bizarre sense of ethics.

While the Chaos Gods all boast unapologetically evil portfolios, with Khorne being the god of blood, battle and rage, Tzeentch the god of change, deception and fate, Nurgle the god of disease and decay and Slaanesh the god pleasure, excess and decadence, each displays a corresponding ‘good’ side to that coin. Khorne insists on honourable combat and will never stab you in the back, Tzeentch offers a twisted hope of change in difficult circumstances, Nurgle promises renewal even in death and Slaanesh inspires a warped perfectionism.

Make no mistake, these are not benevolent entities: their goals and methods tend to malevolence rather than moderation and the outcomes of their schemes are always destructive – they are called the Ruinous Power for a reason. But, in showing at least some moral sensibility the demons of 40K are, surprisingly, not the worst it has to offer.
