Warhammer 40K: Every Faction Ranked From Least To Most Evil
11. The T'au Empire
When it comes to the grim darkness of 40K, the T’au stick out like white-suited preachers at a Hell’s Angels rally. Where everything else is grimy, spiky and covered in gore, the T’au are squeaky clean, less gothic horror and more Mobile Suit Gundam.
While the other races tend to obliterate first and talk later, the T’au send out ambassadors to make peaceful contact. This politesse comes down to the T’au philosophy of the Greater Good, the idea that individuals should work for the betterment of the whole, thereby leading to a healthier society. As part of this creed aliens are to be given the chance to willingly join the Empire.
Problem is, The Greater Good exists only under the auspices of the T’au: fail to to accept the offer and those judged compatible with the Greater Good will be annexed regardless of their wishes. Those found incompatible, such as the Orks and the Drukhari, will be exterminated.
But overall the T’au are remarkably benign, and while there is strong evidence that their society has been brainwashed by the ruling Ethereals, even so, in 40K, their philosophy is a jarringly positive one.
