Warhammer 40K: Every Faction Ranked From Least To Most Evil

8. The Craftworlds Eldar

If ever there was a race who prove the maxim that pride cometh before a fall, it is the Eldar.

A race of powerful psykers, the Eldar experience emotions far more intensely than humans. Technologically advanced to the point that they had no need to work, the Eldar found themselves trapped in a state of boredom they could only escaped by pursuing ever more extreme forms of stimulation. Thus began a downward spiral of depravity as they sought to overcome the deadening of sensation caused by the very intensity of that excess. And so was born the Chaos God Slaanesh, near destroying the Eldar in the process.

But a fraction of the Eldar, the Craftworld’s Eldar, came to their senses and fled. They now follow a path of strict mental discipline designed to prevent them from falling again into the depravity that doomed their race.

Even with this noble turn the Craftworlds Eldar remain arrogant, contemptuous imperialists (they call humans ‘mon-keigh,’ or monkey), who would gladly reconquer the galaxy were it not for their decimated population.

Still, at least they’re trying to do the right thing, and in 40K, that deserves applause.
