11. Slenderman

The Watch Dogs version of Chicago is typically covered in graffiti, including numerous appearances around the city from internet meme sensation and creepy gaming figure Slender Man, created by Eric Knudsen. The reference is particularly pertinent given that the character represents the modern fear of the unknown and the gut-wrenching suspicion that no matter where you go, and no matter what you're doing, somebody - probably sinister - will be watching you, and it feels like that primal fear runs deep through the mythology behind Watch Dogs too. It's reinforced further by the recurring eye motifs that also appear around the city. In among the many instances of Slender Man appearing in the back alleys and building sides around the city, there are also references to the work of renowned street artist and politicised activist Banksy, whose work appears throughout the city:
