What Halo: Infinite Can Learn From Gears 5

After the mixed reaction from fans about the new Swarm faction, The Coalition is definitely doing its best to remind gamers that the Swarm evolved from the Locust. Gears 5 went as far as to bring back the Locust enemies from Drones to Sires. A lot of the plot points revolve around linking the new set of games with Epic Games' trilogy with some Judgement references too.

Halo: Infinite is definitely going for the same browny points with the return of the Brute enemies as well as Master Chief's armour reverting back to the classic Halo 2 and 3 Mark VI Mjolnir look. It's worth mentioning that The Coalition pulled a similar move by making the gears bulkier to emulate the hunched look associated with the old COG.

It is safe to say that 343 is following The Coalition's example of mixing throwbacks with more freedom of exploration. Let's hope that 343 don't go too overboard on trying to recapture that past magic and keep the reminiscing at a healthy level.

Could this be Microsoft's new formula for all of its upcoming releases?
