2. The Invasion
WWE.comFollowing McMahon's real life acquisition of the WCW, and his son's kayfabe acquisition of the WCW, a brand on brand super card was imminent. While the storyline might not have lived up to its potential, this meat and potatoes storyline gave a physical representation of what was behind the Monday Night Wars the 7 years prior. Following more unorthodox run ins that were eerily similar to the original Outsiders by superstars like Guerrero, Perry Saturn, and Booker T, other WCW and ECW stars formed The Alliance, and tried to take the power back from the WWF, and made a name for themselves in the process. This conflict climaxed with a match at Survivor Series 2001 with Team WWF prevailing, showing once and for all who the real winner of the Monday Night Wars was.
