WWE 2K16: 10 Simple Fixes That Would Make It Awesome

6. Commentary

The developers of WWE 2K16 were quick to point out the significance of having JBL join the announce team this year, but if he pipes up more than once or twice during a match, then it comes as a genuine surprise. The normally very chatty former WWE Champion barely has any lines in the game, and when he does speak, it sounds like he's half asleep or just bored out of his mind. Michael Cole and Jerry Lawler meanwhile are as terrible as ever. Yes, there's a lot more variety, but a lot of the clichéd dialogue remains along with clunky lines which you'd never hear said on WWE programming. The decision to have them mention certain moments with WWE Superstars and Divas is admittedly interesting, but such references tend to be very outdated; I honestly had no recollection of Ryback's "epic" matches with The Great Khali until the announce team spent half of a match I was involved in recounting that in unnecessary detail. It would have also been nice to see the NXT announce team used for those portions of the entertaining My Career mode. After all, the whole point of that is to make players feel as if they're living the life of a WWE Superstar from developmental right up to the Hall of Fame, and just a little touch like this would have made a massive difference to the overall experience of that. The commentary needs a complete overhaul next year, but had it been sorted in time for WWE 2K15, the game really could have been taken to another level.
