WWE 2K16: 10 Things You Need To Know About Stone Cold's Deal

9. 2K's Michael Jordan Idea

2K's decision to go with Stone Cold Steve Austin is linked to the success they found with Michael Jordan as the cover star of NBA 2K11. That game sold very well and was critically acclaimed for its gameplay. It had Jordan on the cover and a full on Jordan game mode in which the player relived his accomplishments. 2K are looking to repeat that with Austin. Jordan was the biggest legend in NBA history, and 2K wanted to do the same with WWE's version of Michael Jordan. The producers identified Austin as that guy, as like Jordan he possessed skill, charisma and commercial grandeur. Austin alluded to the Jordan NBA 2K11 comparison when speaking with MTV UK-
"I remember I was talking to Bryce about being on the cover of the game and how big of an honour it is. "I said: 'You know, its been a while since I€™ve been around so this may spark some rumours or speculation?' And he goes: 'You know, Steve, it is no different to when we put Michael Jordan on the cover of the NBA 2K game a few years ago.' "I would put myself on the same level for the wrestling/sports entertainment industry as Jordan - but his appearance didn't mean he was going to put the uniform on again."
