WWE 2K16: 15 Legends Who Could Be The Flagship Star

6. Kurt Angle

It€™s a bit out of left field, this. After all, TNA€™s mainstay for the last nine years (and current world heavyweight champion) has gone on record as saying that this will be his last year as an active wrestler. What€™s more, he€™s already attempted reconciliation with the company that made his name€ and from all reports, couldn€™t even get a meeting. One of the most talented performers in the history of the business, Angle€™s refusal to compromise his intense, hard-hitting style caused him no end of problems. By the time the WWE released him in 2006, he was reportedly working through injuries to his hamstring, neck, groin and abdomen, alongside many other signs of physical wear and tear. Angle was also well known to have become addicted to the painkillers he needed to get through the day, never mind wrestle to his high standards, and scuttlebutt (like gossip with a Vicodin dependency) has it that his behaviour backstage had become erratic at best. Vince McMahon fired Angle face to face, but not without some significant regret: the two men were close friends. Yet when Angle made overtures to WWE last September, he was informed that the man he€™d need to discuss a return with was Paul €˜Triple H€™ Levesque€ and Levesque wasn€™t interested in speaking to him. Angle was left with no choice but to sign with TNA for another year, for what he claims will be his lap of honour before retirement. The thing is, it€™s only a few months until that contract expires€ and never say never. WWE.com recently ran a feature listing the top five possible contenders for John Cena€™s US title, and intriguingly, Angle was on the list. There€™s no end of exciting possibilities for even a part time Kurt Angle in the WWE of 2015, the biggest of which involves one Brock Lesnar, who€™s running out of high-level opponents to face. Kurt Angle returning to WWE would be the story of the year. He€™s one of the most decorated pro wrestlers in history, and a former Olympic gold medalist€ there aren€™t many other men out there who€™d make as big an impact (no pun intended) as the featured star of WWE 2K16.
