WWE 2K18: 10 Superstars Who Could Make Their Franchise Debut
8. Byron Saxton
Hear me out on this one...
Byron Saxton isn't very popular, I get that. While he's nowhere near as bad as David Otunga, the new voice of SmackDown's brand of bland yet annoying commentary should make an appearance in WWE 2K18 because reasons.
This is the first title that will (hopefully) incorporate the brand split. The extension and draft occurred just too late for 2K17 to do so with scannings and the like talking place during WrestleMania season, so with over a year to work on the nuances of both SmackDown and RAW we should have something pretty special on our hands.
In the last few years we've had to put up with the incoherent ramblings of Michael Cole and Jerry Lawler with JBL, a clear afterthought when it comes to the games' commentary, thrown in at any random interval. While it's clear for all to see that drastic improvements are needed in the commentary department, a fact that isn't reserved for WWE games mind you, the people behind the desk need to mirror what we're seeing on television each and every week. Byron should have been in 2K17 but was overlooked for Lawler, sending many a WWE gamer's OCD into overdrive. Lawler is out of date, and not just in terms of his brand of humour as Renee Young and others will attest.
If Byron doesn't make the cut then I hope Corey Graves does. The former NXT Tag Team Champion's schtick lends itself to more juicy soundbites with instant 'pop' appeal. He would have been included in this list of potential franchise debutants if it wasn't for his appearance in 2K15's Who Got NXT mode so Byron will have to do.
Sigh...
