NXT has played a considerable role in the 2K series’ most recent incarnations. Career Mode starts at the Performance Center, with players made to run through their fellow trainees before making it to the main roster, and a small selection of NXT stars are usually available to play in 2K’s exhibition modes.

Last year saw the release of a special “NXT Collector’s Edition” that added Nia Jax, Shinsuke Nakamura, and Apollo Crews to the game, but the brand’s integration remains limited, and it’s time to beef it up.

2K17 featured just 18 NXT wrestlers, which meant players were often left facing the same career mode opponents over and over again. Adding the entire developmental roster (excluding those who haven’t appear on television) would be a big step forward tht'd help break the monotony of Career Mode’s early stages, and provide a more complete NXT experience.

The Cruiserweight division would be another welcome inclusion, as would the UK Championship, and the competitors signed to compete for it. WWE’s universe has expanded to a point where focusing primarily on Raw and SmackDown no longer feels adequate, and tapping into the fringe brands would make the game a more accurate representation of the company as a whole.
