The subtle innovations 2K are making to Universe makes the mode a more effective single-player pursuit in 2K19, and that should be cause for celebration. This is a more immersive world that's easier than ever before to customise to one's liking. Also, it's cool to know simming matches won't leave winners up to the CPU.

2K19's Universe lets you play God by deciding who wins what matches and thus who shoots towards title shots. This eliminates pesky (and unwanted) rivalries the mode has become known for, and it makes the place a more personalised experience all round. Take that, Jinder Mahal. You won't be feuding with Roman Reigns again on our watch.

This is a step towards giving players total control over everything in the game. Other fresh tweaks include being able to decide how often certain matches happen on cards, which belts are on each brand and how regular Money In The Bank cash-ins occur.

With a few more improvements, Universe may finally live up to its early promise from SmackDown vs. Raw 2011.
