WWE 2K19: 10 Awesome New Things You Can Do
8. Unleash Payback
2K are rather proud of their new 'Payback' mechanic. The system comes with a text-heavy tutorial that explains how it all works (each wrestler has two activations, one major and one minor, basically), and they're being touted as game-changers ideal for altering the flow of a match.
Highlights include channeling your inner Great Muta by spraying his iconic green mist everywhere, playing The Undertaker or Bray Wyatt by turning out the lights and appearing behind opponents, and generally being WWE's biggest mischief-maker right as an opponent looks set to end things with their finisher.
It's all pretty snazzy stuff. Play 2K18 again and you'll realise how much matches needed something like this to give them some extra kick.
Little tip: 2K don't lay this out in the short tutorial, but it is possible to change your wrestler's Payback quirks pre-match. That means each character isn't tied down to the two default ones they come preloaded with. This adds a tactical edge to matches that was otherwise missing.
