The designers had a lot going against them when it came to getting 'The Empress Of Tomorrow' right.

First, there's the simple fact that she's a woman, because for some reason, 2K's female character designs often come out looking significantly worse than their men. Then there's the bright colour scheme and a host of little bells and whistles that most other characters lack, from the entrance mask and robe, to the neon hair, to the dash of face-paint, then the ring attire itself.

It's to 2K Sports' credit that they've actually pulled it off, creating a version of Asuka that closely resembles the kaleidoscopic badass she was at the time of development. The robe is the most impressive part. It bellows, sways, and puffs through the air as she makes her way down to the ring, without any of the stiffness or rigidity fans have come to expect from the 2K series.
