WWE 2K20 Review: 3 Ups & 9 Downs
5. The Women's Evolution Showcase Is A Disappointing Bore
Showcase mode this year is focused on the Women's Evolution, specifically the storied rise of the WWE's Four Horsewomen: Charlotte, Sasha Banks, Becky Lynch, and Bayley, and as terrific an idea as that is, it's ultimately a perfunctory, formulaic "celebration" of their successes.
For starters, the extensive video clips of the women discussing their triumphs in-between matches are flatly uninteresting, feeling like nothing more than generic PR gumph, and presented by way of disgustingly compressed video that looks hideous if you're watching it on anything bigger than an iPad.
And though the mode allows you to relive many pivotal and classic moments from the Women's Evolution, as usual it places a frustrating over-emphasis on capturing exactly how those matches went down, forcing you to complete a series of sometimes frustratingly specific objectives. It's not fun.
It lasts all of maybe four hours and just feels like a more impersonal version of the already-testing MyCareer mode. Unless you're really craving a refresher course of this period of WWE's recent history, it doesn't offer much worthwhile.
