WWE 2K21: 10 Improvements It Must Make On 2K20
2. A Fresh Mode (Or Blast From The Past)
As fun as Showcase can be (when it works and refs don't hump Charlotte Flair's face), it's a flimsy substitute for proper single-player experiences. The same goes for MyCareer. There, there's no option to play as actual WWE stars, and that's frustrating. It might be time for something fresh, or old becoming new again.
2K can dip into the past to see old modes like HCTP's classic 'Story Mode' or the SmackDown vs. Raw staple 'Road To WrestleMania'. Both of those were joyous when executed well by THQ, and they scratched that itch of real superstar immersion that so many of the newer games ignore.
Who doesn't fancy staring down Triple H's nostrils before WrestleMania, or trying to figure out who ran over the brand's top babyface? Those kind of moments are everything in WWE games, but there's a sense 2K don't agree. That has caused a worrying disconnect between developer and consumer.
They need to bridge that gap again.
