Poll 100 long-time gamers who pick up WWE titles on the regular and 99, if not 100, of them will say that GM Mode tops their personal wishlists. This has been the Holy Grail since the feature last appeared in SmackDown vs. Raw 2008, and demands to see it return will never go away.

Good news: Patrick Gilmore hinted at it last year. The bad news? He also said that neither 2K nor VC were interested in quickly remodelling a mode from SD vs. Raw '08 and shoving it onto 2K22. If they can't produce something new, then they're not into the idea. That'll infuriate the masses, no doubt.

All is not lost.

2K took a year out. By skipping 2K21, they should have ample time to come up with a GM Mode that feels vibrant, intuitive and modern.

Side note: They shouldn't let WWE's recent downplaying of authority figures on TV talk them out of this mode. Their games are fantasy-based, and GM Mode is a long-held fantasy for millions.
