WWE 2K25: 10 Gameplay Details You Need To Know
Glitchy barricades? Bruised bodies? Is this AEW Fight Forever or WWE SmackDown vs. RAW 2010?

Below reads a statement issued by 2K chiefs three weeks ahead of their first sprinkling of details for WWE 2K25:
"WWE 2K returns bigger, bolder, and better than ever in a breakthrough year for the franchise! [...] Discover game-changing features, iconic Superstars, and more details on January 28th, 2025."
"Breakthrough year"? "Game-changing"?
Those are two beefy remarks which aren't typically associated with virtual WWE video games. 2K Games and developers Visual Concepts have traditionally bypassed complete innovation in favour of more minute tweaks to pre-existing modes. WWE 2K24, for instance, brought zero innovational concepts to the franchise, as it instead added numerous minor changes to MyRISE, MyGM, and MyFACTION, and debuted several mechanical changes, including Super Finishers, throwing weapons, and Trading Blows, if ever you wish to poorly replicate a potent Mitsuharu Misawa-Toshiaki Kawada bloodbath.
This is largely the same as it pertains to WWE 2K25, which has been confirmed for a 14th March release date, though purchasing either the Deadman or Bloodline editions grants you seven days of early access. The roster will be the same, the modes left mostly untouched, and you'll accept it.
It's a wrestling game. You'll fight in the ring - and...
10. The Island Of Relevancy

...on The Island.
Divisive? Possibly. Intriguing? Absolutely.
Described as being "an interactive world made up of a series of areas built around different WWE themes", The Island is WWE 2K25's biggest selling point, and, when being teased, was perceived as being WWE's first attempt at an open world title. That, obviously, won't be the case - at least, not entirely: Grand Theft Auto VI was confirmed to have entered development in 2014 and still hasn't hit consoles over a decade on, so 2K and developers Visual Concepts physically wouldn't have been able to do an open world system justice.
What the mode will offer, though, is quests, challenges, live events, and unlockables, with the aim being to upgrade your MySUPERSTAR throughout your journey to join Roman Reigns at the head of the table. Given the in-depth nature of the mode, it is only available to those playing on PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X|S consoles, leaving PlayStation 4, Xbox One, and, bizarrely, PC players a mode short.
The Island will also operate heavily on cosmetics, with the Deadman and Bloodline Editions both revealing a smattering of pre-order exclusive items, including The Undertaker's protective mask from 1995, a Bloodline 'Family Above All' hoodie, a Roman Reigns 'OTC' t-shirt, and Jey Uso 'YEET' sunglasses and tank top.
