WWE Repurposing This CANCELLED Game As A 2K22 Spin Off?

WWE 2K22 might not be the only new wrestler coming to consoles soon...

A WWE All Stars sequel (of sorts) could be coming soon.

Fightful is reporting that WWE renewed the trademark for "WWE Brawl" this past week. The cancelled video game had been announced previously, but was eventually abandoned in 2012 shortly before developer THQ went to the wall in 2013.

Now, it appears WWE fancy repurposing the project as a spin off to the upcoming 2K22 release - that's scheduled for the first quarter of 2022, so Brawl might fill a gap by giving grappling gamers something to play over the holiday season.

Of course, last year's 2K Battlegrounds title scratched the arcade itch for many. It spat in the face of the core 2K series' simulation style, and instead favoured over-the-top action. In short, it was the spiritual successor to 2009's All Stars.

"Spiritual", but not a sequel proper.

WWE Brawl would be exactly that. This might be music to the ears of those who yearn for an updated version of All Stars. It remains one of the most popular WWE games ever, and with good reason. Seeing a newer incarnation on PS5, Xbox Series X/S and Nintendo Switch would be nice.
