Xbox: 11 Studios Microsoft Might Buy Next
8. Asobo Studios
A job-for-hire indie studio that coasted on Disney-licensed games for years. They finally displayed an individual talent with last year's grisly double-A title, A Plague's Tale: Innocence, and then earned their best reviews yet for this year's Microsoft's Flight Simulator.
Why Likely:
Well, they are a second-party studio with a lengthy, if random, relationship with Microsoft. They've tackled whatever the company has thrown at them: from Kinect (Disneyland Adventures) to PC ports (Quantum Break), and even Hololens (Young Conker).
While taking a risk didn't exactly break the bank with the underrated Plague's Tale, it did announce them as a studio to notice, and one that could do with financial grounding to create similar future projects.
Microsoft ownership would let them drop the money jobs and focus on artistic license going forward. Plus, with the recent stellar reviews for Microsoft's Flight Simulator, they likely have popped up on Phil Spencer's radar.
Why Not:
They tick all the boxes of Microsoft recent buys, but who knows if Xbox Game Studios needs another dev at their scale? They have several already.
