6. Bloober Team

MICROSOFT SEGA
Lionsgate Games

A Polish game studio that has been in the industry since 2010, but didn't hit success until the cracking horror title Layers of Fear. Since then, they've cornered the psychedelic horror market with Observer, Blair Witch, and Layers of Fear 2.

Why Likely:

Similar to Dontnod and Asobo, they easily hit the pointers of Microsoft's past acquisitions, as they're an established indie in need of a home. Plus, they have a second-party history with Xbox.

Blair Witch was a day one Game Pass release, and their stunning upcoming title, The Medium, is an Xbox Series X/S exclusive - and by far their most interesting game coming to the machine.

If Phil Spencer is happy with how current production is going, he could eagerly want to bring them into the fold asap.

Why Not:

As with Dontnod and Asobo, the factor going against a partnership could be if Spencer is done with studio acquisitions at this lower-tier scale.

Those two devs are also Bloober's direct competition as well, with both having a longer former history with Xbox Game Studios. Could the new kid on the block be more appealing though?
