1. Kinect Is Required
Kinect. A good idea or not? Yes. But it doesn't work well. Most of the time, your movements aren't recognized and you have to re-calibrate it. Plus, most of the games suck and even the good ones get Kinect gimmicks thrown in (who wants to yell "grenade" in Halo 4 instead of just pressing the damn right trigger?). Rumors say the next Xbox (yeah, by now you've noticed I refuse to call it Xbox 720 because I don't use rumored names as the actual thing) will require an always-on Kinect? Whether or not it will be built in or still be a separate unit included with the console is unknown, but wouldn't it just be weird to always have a camera watching you play? Will Microsoft be able to see us? What if you're having trouble in a game, pause it, switch your TV's input to the PS4 and start playing some Uncharted while the Xbox is still running? Is Bill Gates going to show up at your house and stab you? Will Bottles the mole from Banjo-Kazooie erase your save file? Will they be making sure you don't pull up YouPorn and go at it? Also, this may result in every single game having Kinect functions, but I'm not talking about those games that are supposedly "better with Kinect." I'm talking every game using it as a requirement. That's right. Gimmicks as a requirement. Want to make Master Chief jump? Get your thumb off the A button and get off the couch. Oh, you're handicapped? Sorry. Go trade the game in or something... oh, wait: nope. So what do you think? If these rumors are true, will they be wise decisions by Microsoft, or will they kill the Xbox brand? Sound off in the comments section below.
