Xbox Game Pass: 10 Best Bethesda Games
3. Doom
Sometimes, original is best, and that's certainly true with Doom. Probably the most influential first person shooter of all time, if you haven't experienced this veritable slice of gaming history, now is the time to do so.
Plot wise, there's scant to say, and that's sort of the point.
You, a nameless space marine subsequently christened 'Doom Guy' by fans, must battle through the forces of Hell invading a Martian lunar base so that you can make it back home to Earth. War and Peace it ain't, but that is hardly the point.
You don't come to Doom for Shakespearean drama.
Doom plays just like it did back in 1993, and yet that's no criticism, nor some nostalgia-sodden glance back to lost golden days. Instead, it's a testament to just how well made the original Doom is.
Fast, furious, and, most importantly, a hell of a lot of fun, Doom comes to Game Pass along with its 1994 sequel (and the aforementioned Doom 3), so you can go and spend a glorious weekend blitzing through legion after legion of hellspawn.
