Xbox Game Pass: 10 Must-Plays You Should Try

8. Overcooked 2

Forza Horizon 4 Halo
Team 17

If you've ever considered becoming a chef but haven't quite dived into a professional kitchen yet, then try Overcooked 2. You won't come any closer to understanding the culinary profession, but you may be put off by the frantic scrabbling and shouting just enough to reconsider your career options.

Developer Team 17 is no stranger to light, slightly surreal multiplayer games, and while Overcooked might not feature any concrete donkeys or holy hand grenades, it remains an addictive experience.

Peppered with anthropomorphic animal chefs and numerous dad-joke worthy food puns, you attempt to save the world from the zombie Unbread (a joke that can be seen coming from a mile away) by learning and recreating various recipes. Little in the way of help comes from your de facto boss, the Onion King (or his dog Kevin) despite the entire crisis having been caused by said monarch foolishly reading the Necronomnomicon aloud. Yes, it really is called that.

Largely aimed at couch co-op, it's the perfect game for turning a convivial gathering of friends into a session of frustration and angry barks as you demand more boiled rice be made for the sushi rolls.

In a way, then, it is somewhat resemblant of a professional kitchen.

... if you take Hell's Kitchen as gospel, at least.

I'm perfectly sane, or so the voices tell me. British, sarcastic, president of the European Slinky Association, have a tendency to lie when listing things about myself. 100% guilty of being a massive geek obsessed with Doctor Who, Harry Potter and video games. If you can't find me on the internet, I'm probably locked in a room playing Spyro the Dragon on my old PlayStation, or blowing everything to smithereens with a concrete donkey on Worms: Armageddon.
