What's most terrifying to me is the ripple effect this might have if Microsoft's crass array of ploys are successful; could we see second-hand Blu-rays being locked to our players? Will be no longer be able to share movies with our friends? While it's unlikely, it's a worrying sign of the times that as we appear to be getting more advanced technologically, that technology is at the same time being turned against gamers, restricting their freedom for the sake of financial gain. While gaming is a business and this should be of no surprise to anyone, there's a breaking point at which publishers are going to push things too far and start alienating players - I have a feeling and a hope that we have arrived at this point.
