It's not just older games that benefit from increased performance and visual flourishes.

Microsoft have long touted they have "the world's most powerful console", and although the race against PS5 is more neck and neck than PS4 vs Xbox One last generation, the Series X routinely comes out on top when splitting hairs with anything third-party.

Hitman 3 runs in native 4K60 on Series X, whereas the PS5 drops that resolution to maintain its frame rate. Call of Duty: Black Ops keeps ray tracing on at a higher frame rate, while Titanfall 2 and Hellblade both see 4K60 automatic upgrades. The Witcher 3's load times are all but eliminated on Series X, and Rocket League saw a sizeable revamp on Xbox to enable 120fps, yet the PS5 edition simply doesn't exist.

Now, this doesn't apply to EVERY game, and we are going into the weeds at this point to discern differences, but in more cases than not, the Series X does outperform PS5.
