6. Character Customisation That Puts You and Your Friends In The Game
Who are you going to care about more than anything else in a war of the worlds? Your friends and family of course, or your favourite musician, celebrity, or whatever creation you want to conjure up to take on your travels. In another nod to the RPGs of yore, XCOM lets you name your entire squad, first and last, as well as giving them a custom nickname after a certain amount of progress in the field. Should you wish to recreate your favourite band as a team of snipers replete with different armour sets and weapons, feel free. Rounding off the new additions this time round are country-specific language-sets for your soldiers, something akin to the sound bank of Worms, albeit without the high-pitched colloquialisms. Sadly there is a distinct lack of any Eastern options, so your culturally-authentic ninja-soldier will have to either be English, French, Spanish, Polish, Italian, German or Russian for now. With many more robust configuration options like armour-plating styles and colours taking your closest into the ensuing chaos in style, alongside say, Batman (complete with grappling hook), they are great cosmetic additions that add to the overall immersion of the situation at hand.
