Yooka-Laylee: 6 Big Reasons To Be Very Excited

5. It'll Probably Start A 3D Platforming Revival

With the exception of some recent Mario releases, cartoon 3D platforming is far past its heyday. Like the beat-em-up, the 3D platforming collect-a-thon has gone under-appreciated in recent years. Yooka-Laylee just might bring about a nostalgic N64 renaissance for the cartoon duo platformer.

Not only N64 nostalgia, but PS1 as well; as not since the 90’s have we seen the likes of Croc, Spyro the Dragon & Crash Bandicoot; to list just a few franchises that translated to new generations about as smoothly as Bing does words.

Nostalgia aside, there’s a whole new generation of people now who have never even SEEN an N64, let alone played Banjo-Kazooie. They’d probably mistake it for some sort of toaster add-on for SMART TV’s; app-controlled for the perfect level of brown. Yooka-Laylee will be a reintroduction to new audiences of the classic N64-era of games, just as much as it will please the die-hard veterans of the time. Kids could also experience a reimagining of a classic (if they can all stop playing Minecraft long enough, that is).
