Yoshi's Crafted World Review: 5 Ups & 2 Downs
3. Up: Quick-To-Learn, Gradually-Developing Gameplay
Even if you've never touched any game like Crafted World, you'll have it down immediately. It maintains Wooly World's control scheme, and never keeps you in the dark if it starts tossing in new mechanics. CW maintains a careful balance that caters to both the experienced and inexperienced.
Better yet, this game doesn't baby you or force you to go through any unnecessary tutorials either. Any gameplay info you may need come in the form of information blocks that are readily available if you're unsure how to progress. Series veterans will probably only use a couple of these, but the game never slows down your progress or make you re-learn gameplay mechanics. Tutorials are purely optional and straightforward.
Thankfully, Crafted World doesn't just rest on its laurels once the base gameplay is established. Levels get a bit creative with its systems and change things up every so often. This comes in the form of run-and-gun mole sections, as well as sections where you take over a large mechanical Yoshi that racks up point multipliers by punching as many things as possible.
You'll never have to guess how gameplay works, nor will you be doing the same thing for too long.
