Zelda: Breath Of The Wild 2 - Every Confirmed & Rumoured Detail
4. Floating Hyrule Castle
The trailer raised many questions and perhaps the biggest one is the floating Hyrule Castle. Rising up from the earth after Ganondorf’s revival, some believe this signals a return to Skyloft, the floating islands that hosted the setting for Skyward Sword, the last traditional Zelda entry back in 2011 on the Wii.
Skyward Sword is canonically the first game in Zelda’s official timeline and several areas within BOTW appear to reference locations from it. Combined with antagonist Demise’s curse, which would bind him in his Ganondorf reincarnation, Link and Zelda through the ages, it’s unlikely to be set beforehand, so it’s possible we may see a return to this setting.
Skyloft’s population moved to the surface world but as far as we’re currently aware, these islands remain intact.
It’s also worth noting that the Divine Beasts were absent in this trailer, as Vah Rudania would normally be visible from Death Mountain in the Hyrule Castle shot.
Whether this has any significance is unclear, and chances are that BOTW 2 may move away from that concept entirely, which is also subject to much speculation.
