Zelda: Breath Of The Wild - Ranking Every Character From Worst To Best
3. Link
Onto Link himself, and the former silent protagonist gets a LITTLE bit more depth to him this time around.
To be fair, the very reason he's called 'Link' is to bridge the gap between game world and our own, so don't expect miracles, but gleaned from your dialogue choices we can get a feel for Link being pretty cocksure, somewhat ready to shrug and get on with the task at hand.
Y'know, the Cloud Strife mentality.
That said, tucked away inside Hyrule Castle is Zelda's diary, where she writes about probing Link for a purpose behind his silence. He states that it's because protecting the realm and knowing that thousands of people rely on him is so great, he feels he can only stay silent to bare this burden without falling apart entirely.
With that in mind, it almost makes all his other dialogue options seem like a front. Link is forever just holding it together. He's as strong as his next mission, the embodiment of purpose and player agency, powered by our own real-world love of The Legend of Zelda and what that tale means to the denizens of Hyrule.
Deep.
