10 Horror Movie Monsters Who Encountered Something Way Worse

1. The Yautja - Alien vs Predator (2004)

Alien vs Predator
Fox

Introduced in John McTiernan’s Arnie-led ‘80s action blockbuster Predator, the Yautja are one of the fiercest beings in the galaxy, pairing brains, brawn, alien technology, and vagina dentata faces that make them one of the toughest customers out there in a hunt, fight or visit to the orthodontist. Yet they’re not always the apex predator.

On one hand, Alien vs. Predator gave fans what they had long been asking for, an on-screen crossover with the Yautja and Ridley Scott’s Xenomorphs from Alien; on the other, it was handed to the consistently terrible Paul W.S. Anderson to direct. Lucky for us, even Anderson couldn’t screw up the fight scenes between these two legendary foes, and the film delivers plenty of sequences making best use of the Xenos’ animal ferocity and the Yautja’s tactical combat.

And while the Xenomorphs on their own are something of a fair match to their bipedal opponents, their queen is not. Deep in the bowels of the Antarctic pyramid hunting ground where the Yautja come to fight the Xenomorphs lives the monstrous queen, squirting out foes for them to face. Unfortunately, she breaks free from her bonds and prison, climbing out of a collapsing pyramid to tower over the last Yautja standing, and while with the help of human guide Lex (Sanaa Lathan), he sends the queen to the ocean floor, she still gets the last laugh by impaling and fatally wounding him with her tail.

We know who we'd rather meet on a dark night.
