10 Recent And Upcoming Found Footage Horror Movies You MUST Watch
1. Dooba Dooba
After playing on the festival circuit, Dooba Dooba has emerged as one of the most unique and frightening horror films to look out for.
Written, directed, and produced by Ehrland Hollingsworth, the movie sees Amna (Amna Vegha) hired to babysit 16-year-old Monroe (Betsy Sligh), who's been left shaken after her younger brother was murdered nearly a decade earlier. Amna's evening gets off to a strange start. In addition to being recorded at all times, she's also instructed to say "dooba dooba" whenever she moves throughout the house. As unusual events begin to occur, Amna's evening is gradually transformed into a nightmarish ordeal.
The most striking aspect about this film is its presentation. It was shot entirely using in-home security cameras, which gives it a fuzzy, lo-fi aesthetic that feeds into its unnerving atmosphere. Intercut archival footage and bursts of visceral violence further heighten the terror as Hollingsworth takes the plot in directions that are equally surprising and terrifying.
Despite the critical praise and accolades this feature has garnered, audiences will unfortunately need to wait a little longer to see it after its release date was pushed back to a to-be-confirmed new date. While disappointing, Dooba Dooba should undoubtedly be worth the wait.
