The Willowbrook Tapes
Michael Costa

Helmed by Michael Costa, The Willowbrook Tapes is an upcoming indie horror that chronicles the final moments of various victims who disappeared in the titular Staten Island area.

While little is currently known about this project, the teaser trailer and clips that have been circulating online give the impression of something that's wickedly depraved. Shot on both digital and VHS to give an authentic analogue feel, the footage that's been released is a mix of surreal occult imagery and sickening grindhouse violence. Whatever this flick turns out to be, it won't be for the faint of heart.

This feature also shares a close connection to the Terrifier franchise, which could give viewers an idea of the sort of carnage they can expect from Costa's offering. Not only were the original Terrifier and The Willowbrook Tapes both films shot at Staten Island's infamous Seaview Hospital, but Costa's project was also executive produced by genre heavyweights Jess DuBois and Steve Barton, who've both worked on Terrifier 2.

Speaking to Bloody Disgusting, Costa explained that his film was made to get "under [his] skin" in a manner contemporary genre offerings couldn't. From what's been revealed so far, The Willowbrook Tapes looks to be disturbing in all the best ways.
