10 Recent And Upcoming Found Footage Horror Movies You MUST Watch
4. V/H/S/Halloween
First hitting screens in 2012, found footage anthology series V/H/S has become essential viewing for any genre fan.
While the franchise has had some misses throughout the course of its eight entries, with 2014's Viral being a disappointing low point, the ensemble of filmmakers that were brought on board for each instalment has delivered some of the most unforgettably frightening shorts of the last decade. Some terrifying highlights include V/H/S' Amateur Night, Safe Haven from the sequel, and V/H/S/94's Storm Drain.
The latest entry, V/H/S/Halloween, is one of the series' strongest offerings to date, giving viewers a selection of six ghoulish Halloween-themed treats that tap into various subgenres to glorious effect. There's a creepy haunted house affair that has hints of Barbarian, a devilishly good occult outing from [REC] director Paco Plaza, and an outrageous mascot horror that takes its cues from Willy's Wonderland.
It's the final two segments where this anthology is at its best. Kidprint is an unapologetically vicious take on true crime thrillers, while the finale, Home Haunt, is a celebratory send-off to gruesome practical effects.
V/H/S/Halloween does everything that this series does best. This is one anthology that deserves to be watched every Halloween.
