20 Horror Movies Everyone Remembers For Just One Scene

Let it be said once and for all: no-one should ever feel guilty or embarrassed about liking Deep Blue Sea, for it is a rarity in more ways than one. Not only is it one of the few good shark films out there, but it's also a silly B-Movie that actually comes from a place of sincerity. It was given a big budget and a stacked cast of serious actors, it never descends into self-parody, and it is a genuinely well-made thrill-ride, including... the scene. 

Deep Blue Sea is a good sci-fi horror flick, but Samuel L. Jackson's surprise death overshadows everything else, for it is absolute perfection, and it's one of those scenes you wish you could watch again for the first time. In the middle of a stirring survival speech, Dr. Franklin Russel (Jackson) is suddenly killed by a shark that comes from behind and snatches him into the water. It'll take a while for first-time viewers to get over the shock. 

Truly, this is one of the finest surprise deaths ever. Alongside the masterstroke of killing off the biggest name so early, it features the finest writing and acting of the movie. Franklin's speech is legitimately well-written, and Jackson delivers it with the charismatic skill that reminds us why he's one of the biggest actors in the business.
