2. Gladys Gets Torn Apart - Weapons
Zach Cregger's stunning Weapons is one of the most transfixingly bizarre horror films of the entire year, and it certainly doesn't let up when it comes to delivering a satisfyingly twisted end to its witch antagonist, Gladys (Amy Madigan).
At the end, Alex (Cary Christopher) - the only child from Justine's (Julia Garner) class who didn't go missing - manages to use Gladys' witchcraft against her by taking a strand of her hair from her wig to enact his own ritual.
By doing so, the 17 children under Gladys' control are now weaponised against her, each of them emerging from the basement and chasing after Gladys, who promptly runs through the neighbourhood before finally being tackled to the ground by the army of kids.
They don't stop there, though, as they swiftly rip Gladys apart, leaving her gory remains on the lawn just as her spell is broken and the children are finally freed from all control.
That's... certainly something we haven't seen before, serving up a villain demise that's both totally insane and absolutely hilarious.
