20 Perfect Scenes In Otherwise Terrible Horror Movies
13. The Strangers: Prey At Night - The Pool Fight
It seemed like most were on the same page with this one. In the context of horror films released in the last ten years, the pool fight in The Strangers: Prey at Night has become known as one of the epitomizing examples of a great scene in a bad horror movie, and there is a very good reason for that.
This sequence, which unfolds in an outdoor swimming pool, is a well-choreographed and ferocious fight sequence that's enhanced to no end by the way that a nearby sound system is blaring out Bonnie Tyler's Total Eclipse of the Heart, which forms an ironic accompaniment to the spectacle. Her music had not been so well-utilized by a movie since Shrek 2.
But the rest of it? The less said the better. It is the most aggressively mediocre of slasher films and a movie that never needed to exist - the original Strangers is not even that good, and the only reason it's become a cult classic is because of its ending. Nonetheless, we'll always have and treasure the pool fight.
