9. Casting Sophie Turner & Kit Harington - The Dreadful
Ignoring the boldness of titling a film The Dreadful that ultimately went on to receive largely negative reviews, this Gothic horror film follows a peasant woman and her mother-in-law as they strive to eke out a living in medieval England, just as a man from the woman's past re-enters her life.
The peasant woman and the mysterious man are played by Sophie Turner and Kit Harington respectively - a dual casting choice which naturally brought the film a ton of added attention, given that they previously starred together on Game of Thrones.
But ultimately it feels like the pair were cast for this reason and this reason only - to give the film a fighting chance at getting an audience even though it's unfortunately just not very good.
And that's in large part due to the flat performances from Turner and Harington who, no disrespect to them, simply don't have any palpable chemistry here whatsoever.
Somebody saw dollar signs by reuniting the pair on screen, but in artistic terms the film suffered for it.
