20 Upcoming Horror Movies NOBODY Asked For
8. The Revenge of La Llorona
2019's The Curse of La Llorona is a horror film that came and went in the blink of an eye, though because it was marketed as being part of the Conjuring Universe, it still managed to gross over $120 million in spite of dire reviews.
All the same, the Conjuring franchise has largely distanced itself from the film in the years since, making the somewhat awkward distinction that, while not being a Conjuring movie, it exists within the same world.
Considering that James Wan and Co. basically seem embarrassed by The Curse of La Llorona, it's surprising that a mostly standalone sequel, The Revenge of La Llorona, has already been shot and is now awaiting release.
Even accepting the unrelenting popularity of the Conjuring IP, that likely doesn't extend towards seven-years-later sequels to tangential spin-offs most people have long forgotten.
The budget is surely low enough that The Revenge of La Llorona hasn't got a chance of flopping, but it'll probably disappear from the public consciousness even faster than its predecessor.
